WORK IN PROGRESS

The Anti-Unitologist Task Force (Formerly the 17th Counterterrorism Unit) was a heavily classified division of the Earth Defense Force, serving on Earth and later on Titan Station. They were declassified after the death of their commander and dissolvement in 2514. EarthGov dismisses the claims of it's existence, calling them "conspiracy theories created by terrorist sympathizers".

History[]

Formation[]

Following the hijacking of the USG Polonsky, EarthGov began to take notice of hostile Unitologist actions and, in 2438, the EDF formed the classified black operations group known as the 17th Counterterrorism Unit. Their original purpose was to retake the Polonsky and prevent any hostile takeovers of other ships.

Retaking the Polonsky[]

The 17th Counterterrorism Unit inserted the Polonsky from the USM Armistice armed with heavy weapons. Despite the heavy resistance, they were successfully clear the ship of any Union (Unitologist terrorist group) militants. The new captain of the ship, Lyle Sorenson, was detained and brought into questioning.

Destruction of the Dome[]

The Union terrorists had constructed a small station behind EarthGov's back. It was constructed with help from a high-ranking CEC official known as Dana Black. The reason it was known as the "Dome" was because of it's dome shape. It rested on a small spire in the middle of deep space. The 17th used several missiles launched from the Armistice, effectively destroying it in seconds.

First Dissolvement[]

The 17th was originally dissolved after the Union was eradicated following the destruction of the Dome. The soldiers who had served eventually decided to reform it at Titan Station. It was now known as the Anti-Unitologist Task Force.

Titan Station[]

The AUTF succeeded at many operations. Despite not being official, they were allowed to exist as they were eradicating cultists and people affiliated with a newly forming terrorist organization known as "The Circle". They then became an official part of the Titan Station Security Force in 2511. In this year alone, they assassinated two Circle members and arrested several high-ranking priests. Among the assassinated were Malcolm Park, former member of the station's security.

Necromorph Outbreak[]

The Necromorph Outbreak on Titan Station sealed the AUTF's fate. They were not trained to handle extremely hostile and unpredictable enemies. Only two members survived, John Carl Pederson and Andrew Blythe. When the station was destroyed, all records of their presence there were erased.

New Horizons Incident[]

Both John Carl Pederson and Andrew Blythe would reenlist into EarthGov security. They would then be killed just days later when the Circle attacked the New Horizons Colony. There were a few former AUTF members in the colony as well, but they would be killed just like Pederson and Blythe. This marked the end of the AUTF.
